Frenchwoman Harmony Tan positive for Covid-19

Harmony Tan, 115th in the WTA rankings and recent eighth runner-up at Wimbledon, announced on Monday that she had tested positive for Covid-19. “Unfortunately, I tested positive for Covid-19. I have symptoms and a lot of fatigue. I have to retire from the Challenger in Latvia this week,” said Tan, 24, on his Instagram account.

Engaged in a Challenger tournament (2nd div.) in Liepaja this week, the Frenchwoman will not be able to collect the 60 points she lacked to reach the final draw of the US Open. Tan, beaten by the American Amanda Anisimova in the round of 16 of the London Grand Slam, will therefore have to count on a possible obtaining of an invitation to play in the American Major.

Despite his fine career in London, Harmony Tan did not pick up any WTA points due to the decision taken by Wimbledon management to refuse the presence of Russian and Belarusian players in retaliation for the war in Ukraine.
