Ehe former NFL player, Kevin WareHe was charged with the murder of his girlfriend. Taylor Pomaskiwho was found dead in Texas last year.
Ware was questioned more than a year ago when his girlfriend disappeared. Pomaski’s remains were found eight months after. In addition to being charged with murder, Ware was also indicted by the grand jury for evidence tamperingspecifically Pomaski’s corpse.
“Prosecutors presented the evidence to a Harris County grand jury, which determined there was sufficient evidence to bring criminal charges,” said Harris County Prosecutor Kim Ogg.
“We will follow the evidence wherever it leads us and we will apply the law equally to everyone,” added the prosecutor.
Ware, who played tight end in Washington Redskins y San Francisco 49ers from 2003 to 2004, he faces a sentence of at least 15 years of imprisonment to life imprisonment.
Criminal history: Kevin Ware was already incarcerated on other charges
Ware, 41, was already in a Texas jail prior to this indictment on charges unrelated to possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, according to NBC News.
His long criminal history dates back to his time as a player in the University of Washingtonwhere they declare guilty of assaultand has held other positions since finishing his career at the NFLincluding other assault, evading arrest, and attempt to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance.
Pomaski was missing for eight months after she was last seen at a party at her Spring, Texas home in April 2021.
Authorities reportedly suspected foul play in Pomaski’s disappearance, while prosecutors identified Ware as a suspect in June 2021.
The 29-year-old’s remains were found in northern Harris County in December 2021.
“We encourage anyone with knowledge of what happened between Kevin and Taylor to come forward,” Lacy Johnson, a prosecutor handling the case, said in a statement Thursday, as reported by NBC News.
