Festivals and celebrations in Quindío – The Chronicle of Quindío

Calarcá celebrated 136 years of administrative life and Quindío 56 years as a department.

CALARCÁ CHOSE ITS POPULAR QUEEN OF COFFEE

Out of 16 candidates, the jury chose Zoe Zharick Guzmán Díaz as the new popular queen of coffee. The candidate from the Veracruz de Calarcá neighborhood will be the representative of the Villa del Cacique in the Departmental Reign of Coffee that will take place in Montenegro. The night day of the election of the popular queen of coffee marked the firm start of the cultural, artistic, social and sports program with which Calarcá celebrates 136 years of administrative life.

MARKET SQUARE IN FUNDADORES

The Chronicle of Quindío began a tour of the main public parks in the city to find out their status. The first stop was made in Fundadores, there a group of citizens, with the support of the Armenian mayor’s office and the private company, managed to recover the place and make it passable for locals and tourists. The worrying thing happens in the vicinity of the place: more than 20 vendors of perishables in carts, on average, remain invading platforms; the bike lane became a parking area; and almost all the streets and races are used by motorcycle and car drivers for double parking. There are also complaints about visual and auditory pollution, garbage and insecurity.

QUINDÍO IS COLOMBIA IN BOLIVARIANS AND SHINES

Bowling, badminton and cycling are the sports in which Quindian athletes, members of the national team, have won medals at the XIX Bolivarian Games held in Valledupar. Colombia is the leader of the medal table and for this the bowler Clara Juliana Guerrero, the badminton player María Yulieth Pérez and the cyclist Sérika Gulumá have set quotas. Hopeful participation of local athletes in the face of the National Games that Armenia and Quindío will host next year.

MURDERED AND DISAPPEARED HER SENTIMENTAL PARTNER

Alberto Lissandro Vielma, a Venezuelan national, was captured and imprisoned for the murder of Winifer Rosmary Mendoza, a woman with whom he lived on a rural property in Armenia. The accused murderer confessed to the authorities the crime and described, in detail, what happened. The confessed murderer claimed to have beaten and then strangled her sentimental partner and then buried her. A sister of the murdered woman filed a lawsuit for the disappearance of her relative and three months after the murder the authorities managed to clarify the crime.

NATIONAL KINGDOM OF COFFEE

With the arrival on Quindian soil of the 15 candidates for the National Coffee Reign, the royal agenda began in Calarcá, Montenegro and Armenia, which will end today, Sunday, July 3, with the election and coronation evening. The winner of the contest will represent Colombia in the International Coffee Reign to be held in Manizales next January. The applicants were received in the office of the Governor of Quindío for the ceremony to impose the button that accredits them as ambassadors of the PCC. Atlántico, Bogotá, Bolívar, Boyacá, Caldas, Cali, Caquetá, Cesar, Córdoba, Meta, Nariño, Risaralda, Santander, Sucre and Quindío compete for the crown.

QUINDÍO, 56 YEARS OF ADMINISTRATIVE LIFE

This Friday, July 1, the department of Quindío added 56 years of administrative life. Next Friday, July 8, a tedeum will be held on the occasion of the event. Sources consulted by this media outlet agreed that the threats to biodiversity are real in the territory of Quindío and recalled the obligations derived from Law 1803 of August 1, 2016, on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the department, and which includes carrying out of projects with national resources.
