FC Porto wins its 23rd Portuguese Super Cup

FC Porto dominated the Tondela club (3-0) this Saturday, during the Portuguese Super Cup.

FC Porto, defending champion of Portugal, won the 23rd Supercup in its history on Saturday evening by winning against the Tondela club (3-0) at the Aveiro stadium (north) thanks in particular to a double of the attacking Taremi.

The Dragons thus open the 2022/2023 season with a big victory thanks to the goals, in the first half, of the Iranian Taremi (30) and the Brazilian Evanilson (33), in less than three minutes. But it will then have been necessary to wait until almost the end of the meeting for Taremi (82) to drive the point home definitively.

Tondela, official victim of FC Porto

The Supercup, which was played in a sold-out stadium, according to the Portuguese Football Federation, was a remake of the Portuguese Cup played last May near Lisbon and which also pitted the two teams against each other.

Sergio Conceiçao’s men had already won without difficulty in this final (3-1) against Tondela, relegated to the second division at the end of the season, adding an 18th Portuguese Cup to their list. “We have a duty to win this game“, had confided Conceiçao on the eve of the Supercup.

Saturday night’s game was also an opportunity for Gabriel Veron, the 19-year-old Brazilian striker who signed with the Dragons until 2017, to play for his new club for the first time.
