IN NUMBERS – Return, in figures, on the course of the new coach of Paris Saint-Germain.
0 – If he has honored six selections in the France Espoirs team, Christophe Galtier, defender, has never been called up to the big Blues. He may take his revenge by donning the coach’s costume one day. In the meantime, it is the Paris-SG coach outfit that he makes his own.
2 – After a playing career completed without a club title, Galtier won two trophies as a coach: the 2013 League Cup with ASSE and Ligue 1 in 2021, at the head of Losc. He had been crowned European champion with the France Espoirs team in 1988.

6 – Christophe Galtier has only had one Champions League campaign so far. It was in 2019, with Lille. Balance sheet? Five defeats, a draw and an exit from the group stage. The Marseille technician still coached 44 Europa League matches (16 wins, 16 draws, 11 losses), without ever reaching the quarter-finals, including 10 in qualifying. 7 – Galtier attended seven clubs as a player, OM (1985-1987 and 1995-97), Lille (1987-90), Toulouse (1990-93), Angers (1993-94), Nîmes (1994-95), Monza (Italy, 1997-98) and Yuandong (China, 1998-99).
10 – If he is recognized today as one of the best French coaches of the moment, Galtier has long had the label of the eternal assistant. And for good reason, he wore this costume for ten years, from Olympique de Marseille (1999-2001) to “Sainté” (2008-09), via Aris Salonika (Greece, 2001-02 ), Bastia (2002-04), Al-Ain (United Arab Emirates, 2004), Portsmouth (England, 2005), Sochaux (2006-07) and Lyon (2007-08). A learning phase that allowed the Marseille technician to perfect his methods.

32 – PSG is the club that Galtier has faced the most in his coaching career, ahead of Olympique de Marseille: 32 matches, for six wins, seven draws and 19 defeats. However, he remains in four matches without defeat or conceded a goal against the Red and Blue (1 with Lille, 3 with Nice), including qualification for the Coupe de France last winter, in the round of 16. The Galtier victim has become a pet peeve!
55 – Born in Marseille on August 23, 1966, Galtier is 55 years old.
177 – With 177 matches, Stéphane Ruffier is the player most used by Christophe Galtier, ahead of Loïc Perrin (254), Fabien Lemoine (226), Jérémy Clément (192) and Moustapha Sall (160), all of whom passed through ASSE.
448 – With 448 matches as a coach in Ligue 1, Galtier is approaching the Top 20 of the most capped coaches in the championship (204 wins, 121 draws, 123 losses). 448 matches, including 361 on the bench of an ASSE which he marked with a hot iron.
