England crowned European champions after victory against Israel

A year later, the young English avenged their elders. After an undecided final until the second period of extra time, England U19 was finally crowned European champion by overcoming a tenacious Israel (1-3) in Trnava this Friday evening. Outsiders on paper, the Israelis bravely played their luck by asphyxiating the English from the start.

After several offensive waves, Ofir Haim’s men saw their efforts be rewarded: a hook to put his vis-à-vis in the wind then a missile in the skylight of Matthew Cox, Oscar Gloukh offered himself without a doubt one of the goals of the competition (1-0, 40th). Much sharper on the way back from the locker room, Ian Foster’s proteges managed to get back to level quickly on a point-blank strike from Callum Doyle (1-1, 52nd). England finally got away with it after extra time: thanks to Chukwuemeka (1-2, 108th), then Aaron Ramsey (1-3, 116th).

Five years after the coronation of the Mount-James-Sessegnon generation at Euro 2017, England can be reassured: the Young Lions still have a bright future ahead of them.
