Duván Zapata: Atalanta puts a price on him and Newcastle on the prowl | Colombians Abroad

Uncertainty surrounds Atalanta, as well as the two Colombians from the Bergamo club. Luis Fernando Muriel does not define his future, despite already enchanting him with his plays in the preseason and in preparation matches. The Italians put a price on Muriel, which is valued at 15 million euros for the interested clubs.

For their part, although they had a plan to prevent the recurrent injuries that Duván Zapata has had at Atalanta during the past season, his physical condition is no longer an unknown, but what concerns the Italians is the possible departure of the former America from Cali. Gian Piero Gasperini commented that Zapata is one of the important players in the club. However, it seems that his future may be far from the Bergamo team.

Atalanta failed to qualify for the European Cups last season. This can be an incentive for a change of scenery, but the interested party does not have a ticket to European competitions either. Newcastle United from England has been closely following the future and the status of the Colombian in this transfer market.

According to Sportwitness.co, Newcastle would have to put up €10m more than what they were bidding on. They initially put 15 million on the table. The portal mentions, ‘the president of Atalanta, Antonio Percassi, would give the green light to the sale of the South American if his team received an offer of about 25 million euros.’

For now, both Duván Zapata and Luis Fernando Muriel continue in the ranks of Atalanta de Bergamo. They already had presences in the friendlies, Duván bittersweet despite handing out an assist, but Muriel sweet scoring three goals. After that game, Gian Piero Gasperini covered the Caleño with testimonies that could clarify his continuity in the club.

Gasperini spoke to DAZN TV, ‘Zapata has always been a key player for us. At the end of last season, he wasn’t 100% after his injury.’ In turn, Duván commented on the relationship he has with the coach, ‘we get along very well. Every day he teaches soccer, new concepts. And the players have to be cooperative and follow it.’
