David Ortiz, Pedro Martinez, Juan Marichal, Vladimir Guerrero – NBC Boston

The Dominican Republic has been the cradle of many achievements in sports, particularly in baseball. The country has seen the bats, gloves and skills of dozens of outstanding Dominicans shine in the major leagues.

With the recent inclusion of David Ortiz to the Baseball Hall of Fame, there are now four Dominican stars who have been exalted with the famous recognition in Cooperstown.

In the special “Los Inmortales”, we honor the outstanding Major League careers of one of the best pitchers in history and the first Dominican to reach the Hall of Fame John Marichal; one of the most feared pitchers in professional baseball and 8-time All-Star Peter Martinez; the most valuable player in the American League in 2004 and elected to the All-Star game 9 times Vladimir Guerrero; and one of the most charismatic players of the Red Sox winner of 7 silver bats Big Papi David Ortiz.

In an intimate conversation with our host, Carmen Martínez, these admirable sports figures share experiences of how they rose to the top spot in Major League Baseball, proudly representing all Latinos.
