Current reports from Delitzsch – news from Leipzig

City Council decisions

On June 28, 2022, the last scheduled public meeting of the Delitzsch City Council before the summer break took place.

City commissions WGD with property development

In order to develop the “Auenhöfe” residential development with nine single-family houses and up to 14 terraced houses in the west of Delitzsch, the city of Delitzsch concludes a so-called “general contractor agreement” with the housing company of the city of Delitzsch for the development. With this work contract, the WGD assumes responsibility for the construction tasks of the external and internal development.

The total cost of the development will amount to around 500.00 euros.

B-Plan draft special area Delitzsch-Nord is laid out

After the early interpretation of the draft for the development plan no. 10 “Special area Delitzsch-Nord” 1st amendment, the city councilors have now decided to approve the draft and the renewed interpretation.

B-Plan No. 10 is to be changed in order to enable the construction of a solar thermal system for integration into the district heating network of Stadtwerke Delitzsch GmbH.

B-Plan draft local supply Richard-Wagner-Strasse is laid out

Afforestation to replace trees that have been cleared

On June 28, 2022, the Delitzsch city councilors also approved the draft of the development plan no.

Here, the project developer (LIDL) is planning to reorganize the area that has already been developed and to construct a building with around 1,500 square meters of retail space and smaller supply points opposite the market with a total of 480 square meters of retail space.

In the future, the current sales area is to be expanded to include a meat shop, baking pavilion, pharmacy and lottery shop.

For around 1,500 square meters of cleared forest, the project developer has to reforest around 2,090 square meters of forest. Since this is not possible in the planning area, an additional area was found in the Delitzsch district of Schenkenberg.

B-Plan draft water tower is laid out again

Compensation must be created for surface sealing

The city councilors have decided on the third interpretation of draft development plan no. 48 “Special area – Am Wasserturm”. The reason for the renewed design is the adjustment of the plans as a result of the corona pandemic, the settlement requests from companies and the necessary parking spaces for the “Rolling Mill” construction project by the project developer. The historic water tower, whose future use was originally only planned as a hotel, should also be used as a boarding house (“temporary home”) in the future.

Among other things, the determination of the building area classification must be adapted to the changing projects. The development planned by the project developer along Leipziger Straße can no longer be realized with the target designation of another special area for accommodation.

The city council has agreed to the settlement of non-disturbing commercial enterprises in the form of business, office and administration buildings by establishing a restricted commercial zone. Only the area around the water tower is to be further planned as another special area for accommodation.

Since around 11,000 square meters of space will be resealed for the construction project, compensation for interventions under nature conservation law

  • the dismantling of buildings and facilities of a stable facility with sealed areas, gravel areas and ruderal open spaces and
  • the creation of an orchard in the Delitzsch district of Döbernitz.

Greenbreak warning

Despite intensive tree care measures, green branches can also break off in the Delitzsch green spaces. The tree sheds apparently healthy, fully leafed trees even on windless days.

The reason for this is the prolonged drought.

The city of Delitzsch therefore asks for increased attention in the vicinity of trees.

“Delicious” evening market with live music

The next “delicious” evening market will take place on July 14, 2022.

From 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., around 60 market stalls invite you to relax after work and linger on the Loberstadt market square.

As usual, the summer evening market offers a wide range of delicacies and handcrafted products. The range includes tarte flambée, baked pork, garlic bread, gin punch, wine, mead, crêpes, Polish specialties, wood-fired bread, pizza, French salami, fruit spreads, honey, spices, fish and a large selection of cheese and game specialties.

Extreme pianist Andreas Güstel guarantees musical enjoyment. The Leipzig pianist is part of the “Be-Flugel” duo and already delighted the audience in Delitzsch at the spring and gourmet market in May.

For the evening market on July 14, he will be playing from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at different locations.

Springer tamarins have offspring again

The small marmoset species Leaping Tamarine has once again provided for offspring in the Delitzscher Tiergarten. So far it will be difficult for everyone to discover the small black bundle of fur on the mother’s back.

It spends its first lifetime there, perfectly camouflaged, until at some point the other group members also take care of the offspring.

At the age of three months, the little jumping tamarin then goes independently in search of food.

Leaping tamarins are considered endangered in their original habitat, the western Amazon basin, since deforestation there has already progressed and is continuing.

Laughing Hans fledged

The offspring of the kingfisher species Laughing Hans can now be seen in the aviary.

The young animal usually stays in the nest box for a long time. When they see it for the first time, many zoo visitors are surprised at the size of the offspring and have to look closely to distinguish between the parents and the young.

Purr, buzzer, bone skittles – how did children play in the Middle Ages?

Who knows purr, nut mill and bone game? What is a gyro cube or a humming pot? What is behind “herding goats” or “pulling strange cats”?

Medieval backgammon, dice and card games triggered a veritable gambling frenzy in the Middle Ages, which could not be driven out of the people by burning the dice and game boards in the 15th century. In the meantime, many games from our everyday life have been completely forgotten.

In August, all children are invited to test their skills and stamina in the castle courtyard in Delitzsch and to get to know all sorts of toys.
