Confusion about de Ligt’s salary at Bayern Munich

Should Matthijs de Ligt actually switch to Bayern, he would possibly rise to new dimensions in terms of salary – depending on the media report.

Are those responsible at FC Bayern a little relieved that Robert Lewandowski’s future has calmed down a little, at least for a brief moment? In any case, the possible commitment of Matthijs de Ligt has pushed the change theater around the world footballer a little into the background. There is now new information and, above all, speculation in the Causa de Ligt every day.

It seems clear so far that the German record champions would like to sign the Dutch central defender and have therefore already approached Juventus Turin. It is also quite certain that the 22-year-old can well imagine a move to Bayern, and there is even talk of an agreement in principle. As a recent media report suggests, this is probably not just due to the sporting perspective.

This should irritate the strong defender, as “Bild” recently reported, because de Ligt likes the Munich game so much. He sees his greatest strengths in a more offensive line of defence, in which he can shine even more than at Juve in terms of positional play, opening the game and leading tackles. But the financial side should also play a major role in the decision to join FC Bayern.

As the journalist Nicolò Schira claims on Twitter, those responsible for the German record champions have already reached an agreement in principle with the Dutchman. Accordingly, de Ligt should earn twelve million euros net a year and sign until 2027. In Turin, the 22-year-old was one of the top earners and probably nets between nine and twelve million euros.

FC Bayern and Juventus disagree on transfer issue

The TV station “Sky” also has information about the defender’s possible new salary. There it says, however, that de Ligt can even count on 17 to 19 million euros in Munich, but gross. If this sum is correct, de Ligt should not make a big jump in salary, but it should not deteriorate either. Either way: De Ligt would definitely not have to limit himself if he switched to Bayern Munich.

The question of replacement is also still open. While Juventus Turin demands at least 80 million euros for the 22-year-old, who came to Italy from Ajax Amsterdam in 2019 for 85.5 million euros, the people of Munich probably only want to pay between 50 and 60 million euros, according to “Sky”. However, it is “conceivable” that they will end up meeting for a fee of 70 million euros.
