Bingen Arostegi, ex of Oviedo, will train Bilbao Athletic

Biscayan coach Bingen Arostegi, José Ángel Ziganda’s second coach in recent seasons at Athletic Club and Real Oviedo, will return to Lezama this season to manage Bilbao Athletic, of the First RFEF, as confirmed by the Bilbao entity.

Arostegi, 52 years old, will lead a coaching staff in the first rojiblanco subsidiary in which he will have Jon Solaun, coach of the Honor Division Youth team last season, as assistant, and Iban Urkiza as physical trainer.

The team is completed by former goalkeeper Dani Aranzubia as goalkeeping coach and analyst Pau Suazo, from Oviedo.

The Bermeo coach, substitute in charge of Patxi Salinas, has already worked for more than a decade in the Lezama structure for more than a decade.

Arostegi coached the Juvenil División de Honor between 2007 and 2012, Cadete B in 2014-15 and in 2015-2016 he was second to Joseba Aguirre in the first women’s team that won the league title that year.

In 2016-2017 he became Ziganda’s assistant at Bilbao Athletic, achieving promotion to the Second Division in a coaching staff that Urkiza already worked for. That same group that he took charge of the rojiblanco first team in the 2017-2018 campaign.

After his departure from Athletic at the end of that season, from February 2020 until the end of this campaign, he formed a technical tandem with Ziganda at Oviedo.
