Rinkēvič’s partner Ardis Bedrītis is injured, and this season is probably over for him. Coach Rihards Finsters told Latvian Radio that Bedrītis has a pinched nerve, as a result of which two muscles do not work. The athlete needs surgery. “Theoretically, he could have played,” Finster said, but the team decided to listen to the doctors’ advice with a long-term perspective. “Health comes first,” added the coach.

After the operation, Bedrīti expects a four to six-month recovery period, so the coach believes that this season has already ended for the athlete.
Tocs and Rinkevičs will play the qualifying tournament in Portugal from the beginning. At the moment, it is difficult to predict what it will be, because Europe is once again overwhelmed by Covid-19, as a result of which “many teams are jumping off,” said Finster.
