Basketball runner-up Bayern Munich has signed power forward Jan Niklas Wimberg. The 14-time national player comes from league rivals Niners Chemnitz and signed a two-year contract until 2024 with Munich.
“All in all, he has proven that he deserves this challenge,” said Bayern sporting director Daniele Baiesi: “Especially since his ambition is unusually strong to want to compete at EuroLeague level.”
Chemnitz had previously announced the departure of 26-year-old Wimberg. He originally had a contract with the Niners until the end of next season.
However, thanks to an exit clause anchored there, he could leave the club “for a fixed transfer fee” “if a team from the EuroLeague knocks,” the club said.
