Barça sold its first this Friday token no fungible (NFT) at Sotheby’s auction house in New York for $693,000including commissions, on the eve of their club friendly against the New York Red Bulls.
The NFT is titled ‘In a Way Immortal’ and evokes Cruyff’s iconic goal at Atlético Madrid at Camp Nou in 1973, when the Dutchman suspended himself in the air and beat goalkeeper Miguel Reina with an acrobatic move that went down in football history.
The buyer of the piece, who offered $550,000 and whose name has not been released, will receive a special treatment on the part of the club, with VIP experiences and the recognition as Barça Digital Ambassador, as reported by the team in a note.
