After three tournament victories in a row, badminton player Viktor Axelsen announces the next two World Tour tournaments in Malaysia and Singapore.

He needs to rest his body and head, he states in a post on Twitter.

Axelsen smashed the former Japanese world setter, Kento Momota, on Sunday with a full 21-4, 21-7, when he won the Malaysia Open. And after that clapping, there must be rest.

‘I would have loved to compete again here in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysian capital, ed.) And then in Singapore, but when I woke up this morning, my body and my head told me it’s time to rest and recharge, before I enter the field again, ‘writes Axelsen.

According to the plan, the Danish world setter should then have played the Malaysia Masters 5.-10. July and Singapore Open 12.-17. July.

It will now be without the participation of the Olympic gold winner.

‘I need a few days to rest in, enjoy my victories with my family and then build up to new goals,’ writes Axelsen, who is now pulling the plug for a while.
