Ansis Zeltiņš has been elected president of the Latvian Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation

Zeltiņa was elected by the board, which previously elected Zeltiņš, Sandis Prūsis, Janika Judeika, Kristaps Kotāns and Zintis Ekmanis, who will also continue to hold the position of general secretary.

“The priority in my work will be attracting young people. It is about athletes, but not only. We must create this story about Latvian bobsled in an understandable language so that young people who have not experienced it themselves know about our success in this sport and want to get involved. Federations there is no need to change the direction in the work, we will continue to strengthen the existing one and develop further,” said Zeltiņš.

Also, the president reveals that his plans include improving Sigulda’s bobsleigh and toboggan track.

The current president, Jānis Kols, had been in office since 2006 and even before the end of his term of office, he admitted that he would no longer run for the position of president in the federation. He praised what was done while he held the position, pointing out that 152 medals were won in bobsled alone in 16 years.

The new bobsleigh and skeleton season will begin at the end of November, with the first three stages being held on the North American tracks, and after the turn of the year – five stages on the European tracks, ending the World Cup season on the Sigulda track. The World Championship will be held in Switzerland, at the St. Moritz circuit from January 21 to February 5.
