Andrés Giménez will replace Altuve in the All-Star Game

After a pitch to the left knee, Venezuelan José Altuve was left without an option for next Tuesday’s All-Star Game. In his place, Andrés Giménez will replace him as the American League’s starting second baseman.

Major League Baseball (MLB) announced this Saturday that it will not participate in the mid-season classic that will be played at Dodger Stadium. Altuve was chosen as the starter by fan vote and was preparing to play his eighth All Star, the second in a row.

While Giménez will play his first classic. The 23-year-old Venezuelan arrived in Cleveland and is having a dream season with an average of .299, 10 home runs and 43 RBIs, reported the Lider portal.
