The blues accused the lack of shooting against a rival with much more minutes in their legs

Amorebieta’s debut in the 2022/23 season has ended with a resounding defeat at the hands of Eibar in Atxabalpe. The armory team made use of their greater shooting and preparation to overcome a group of inexperienced Urritxe and still to engage after less than two weeks since their preseason started. Still, they left interesting things in the green. Urko Izeta already scores with the Blues and is called to be one of the great offensive references of Haritz Mujika’s men, who opted for a classic 4-4-2, leaving aside the usual drawing in recent campaigns. Josué Dorrio, the electric winger from Bilbao, also scored.

The blues jumped onto the field with an eleven that is still hard to do after the experience of the Biscayans in the Second Division. With Marino as the only survivor from last year, the rest of the line-up was made up of Intxausti, Murua, Xiker and Leiza in the defensive line; Dorrio, Cantón, Youssef and Bujan in midfield; with Izeta and Intxausti forming the offensive duo of a ‘new’ tactical scheme for the Blues.

Eibar, with more shooting and greater rhythm in their legs, dominated the first half, especially at the start of the match. The gunsmiths forced Unai Marino to shine, who prevented Troncho from opening the scoring in the first ten minutes with two very good saves. After the quarter hour, the azulgranas scored, but the referee annulled Berrocal’s goal correctly for offside.

However, the downpour for those of Haritz Mujika was not over. Eibar continued to percuss with insistence and it didn’t take long to open the can. After twenty minutes, Rahmani filtered the ball into space and Bautista crossed correctly before Marino’s exit. The second gunsmith goal also featured the Franco-Algerian winger. This time, his sending from the left flank was hunted by Ager Aketxe to increase the local income.

It was not until half an hour had passed when the Amorebieta, uncomfortable and with many visible seams, began to carburize and generate some danger. The first warning was given by Urko Izeta, whose shot went over the crossbar. Before the break, Urritxe’s men managed to close the gap after, precisely, another action by Urko Izeta. The striker, loaned by Eibar to the Blues, left glimpses of his quality and carried out a good action inside the area. His shot was repelled, but Josué Dorrio appeared on the rebound to make it 2-1.

After the break, Haritz Mujika stirred up the team and brought on the other six players he had on the bench. Jonmi occupied the Zornotzarra goal, while Ube, Garro, Víctor López, Albisua and Aiarza took the places of Marino, Murua, Xiker, Leiza, Youssef and Jauregi.

The second period started just as badly for Urritxe’s men as the first, conceding two more goals in just five minutes. First Aketxe converted a maximum penalty committed on Ríos Reina and then it was Yanis Rahmani who shot Magunagoitia with a whip from the edge of the box.

Amorebieta, who did not lose his temper but who was clearly taking his first steps of the course, managed to cut back again through a very active Urko Izeta, this time after a good recovery by Dorrio on the front. The game was losing some steam as the minutes went by, but gunsmiths and zornotzarras continued looking for the rival goal. Jon Bautista found it again in the last quarter of an hour to round off the armory win.
