A tragedy could have happened in Hungary during the second qualifying round of the Europa League Conference. Hungarian club Fehérvár FC were hosting Azerbaijan’s FK Qabala when Qabala player Ilkin Qyrtymov fell to the ground after a violent contact shortly after the half-hour mark.
The player remained on the ground, his head in his hands, suffering from pain, before finally having a seizure. His captain Asif Mammadov quickly intervened. He opened his teammate’s mouth and probably saved his life.
Ilkin Qyrtymov regained consciousness before being taken to hospital where he remained under observation but is now out of danger.
In the end, Fehérvár FC won the first leg 4-1.
