A first NBA contract for a youngster from Montreal North

A prosperous week for Quebecers in the NBA: the young Bennedict Mathurin initialed his entry contract with the Indiana Pacers on Thursday.

The organization that recently made the Montreal North native the sixth overall pick in the Silver circuit amateur draft made the announcement in a press release.

The Pacers did not disclose details of the deal. According to the daily “IndyStar”, the contract would be for a period of four years and would bring about $30 million to Mathurin. The last two seasons of the contract would come with an option for the Pacers.

This news comes days after Quebecers Luguentz Dort (Oklahoma City Thunder) and Chris Boucher (Toronto Raptors) signed new contracts worth $87.5 million and $35.25 million respectively.
