17 blues in the race, several big names present – OA Sport

The long blue path in Budapest actually begins in Budapest from Friday 8 to Sunday 10 July Olympic qualifiers for judo towards the 2024 Paris Games. The tricolor technical staff had in fact decided to focus mainly on the Magyar stage of the World Tour, bringing only two athletes (Giacomo Gamba and Leonardo Casaglia) to Mongolia for the first event that assigned points for the five-circle rankings.

They will be well 17 Italian judokas competing in the Hungarian Grand Slam, 10 in the male categories and 7 in the female ones. Obviously all the veterans from the Mediterranean Games in Oran were absent, among the women the names of Francesca Milani (fifth in the last European Championships in the 48 kg) and Alice Bellandi (European bronze in office in the 78 kg) stand out.

In the men’s sector, Elios Manzi (bronze at the European Championships in Sofia in the 66 kg), Fabio Basile, Giovanni Esposito (both in the 73 kg) and Christian Parlati (5th in the last continental event in the 90 kg) will be present in Budapest. Absolute debut with the blue colors in the major circuit for the 22-year-old Italian-Ghanaian Kwadjo Anani, who will fight in the category up to 100 kg.
