Anthony Modeste (34) scored 20 goals for 1. FC Köln last season. But does Modeste really stay with FC?

The double hero from 1978 is happy that his FC has a top scorer again in Modeste, says: “He is a guarantee of success, you need a player like that. Tony scored 20 goals last season I’m remarkable,” says Müller.

Müller doesn’t like the fact that Modeste is openly flirting with a change. He hopes the forward will fulfill his contract until 2023.
Müller to BILD: “Tony should stay and then a solution will be found. With all due respect for this player – he should be eternally grateful to coach Steffen Baumgart. Because it was Baumgart who got Tony back on his feet after the unsuccessful time in St. Etienne and even brought him back into the great shape he had before he moved to China. And I know from my own experience how important it is for a striker to feel the coach’s trust.”
How does Müller assess the situation around Modeste?
“One has to take Tony for what he is, but I would give the boy friendly advice not to gallop about it. On the other hand, I hope that FC will handle the subject of Modeste confidently.”

The subject of Modeste could keep the club busy until the end of August. Only when the transfer window is closed and Tony is still wearing the FC jersey can the FC fans breathe a sigh of relief. Because the fact is: They absolutely want to keep their star scorer!
