Zizou Bergs plays Casper Ruud days away from making Grand Slam debut

The 23-year-old Belgian, 146th in the world, was invited by the organization after his title acquired at the Ilkley Challenger last week. Thursday, the right-hander from Lommel showed that he was capable of competing with the best on grass by beating the Norwegian Casper Ruud (ATP 5) during an exhibition meeting at Hurlingham. Bergs, who replaced David Goffin at Hurlingham at short notice, won a double 6-4 against the recent French Open finalist. “I’m very happy to see that I’m in good shape for next week”, wrote the Belgian N.2 on Instagram in the wake of his victory.

In addition to Bergs, who will play for the first time a Grand Slam final draw, David Goffin (ATP 58) will also be present on the grass of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London.
