Zilan Ertem wins the gold medal at the Umitler European Judo Championship

Zilan Ertem became European Champion by defeating Slovakia’s Patricia Tomankova with ippon in the 40kg women on the first day of the European Championship of Hopes, which started in Porec, Croatia.

In the women’s 40 kg judoka, which went on tatami at the championship organized in Porec, Croatia, Zilan Ertem directly beat Belgian Celia Van Beneden in the quarterfinals, Austrian Nina Auer in the semifinals with a golden score and Slovakian Patricia Tomankova with ippon (3 shido) in the final game and took first place with a medal.

Begümnaz Doğruyol, a balanced judoka, lost in the quarterfinals to France’s Jehanne De Bouard by a golden score. Defeated Portugal’s Beatriz Carinhas with ippon in repechage. She lost in the bronze medal fight to Austria’s Nina Auer and finished 5th in her weight class.

At 44 kg, Zeynep Betül Sarıkaya passed the first type bye. In the 2nd medicine she beat the Portuguese Matilde Goncalves in the golden score with ippon (3 shido) and reached the quarterfinals. Lost in this race to Frenchman Morgane Annis. In repechage, she defeated Britain’s Emma McCabe with ippon and Ukraine’s Marharyta Miroshnichenko with waza-ari points, and met Czech Marketa Korcakova for the bronze medal. Sarıkaya, who lost to his opponent, finished fifth.

On the second day of the championship Şeyma Yıldırım 52 kg, Elif Ağar 57 kg, Tuana Gülenay and Sinem Oruç 63 kg; Abdullah Turgutlu in the men’s 66 kilos and Erman Gürgen with 73 kilos will hit the tatami.
