Zamora will host the great sports festival of the Women’s Universe Tour this weekend

Zamoranos who come to the Plaza de La Marina this weekend -Saturday 18 (5-9:00 p.m.) and Sunday 19 (10-2:00 p.m.)- will be able to enjoy the biggest open-air sports roadshow. It will be the first Women’s Universe Tour after the pandemic. The music will fill the atmosphere with color and will accompany the Zumba and Body Combat classes given by the local instructors, a great fitness marathon that can be followed from the main stage of the event. It will be the best appetizer of the inauguration, since throughout the afternoon visitors will be able to practice all kinds of activities ranging from tennis to boxing, rugby, athletics, badminton, handball… For this purpose, multi-sport courts have been installed for the occasion and the enjoyment of the attendees.

One of the most visited areas of the Tour will be the tatami, where you can follow the exhibitions of gymnastics, judo, taekwondo, Olympic wrestling or karate by students from local clubs or from the different Autonomous Federations. In addition, the Tour will have other spaces such as the “ExpoTour” that will collect the stories of the ambassadors and federations promoted by Iberdrola, a Health tent with biometric studies and recycling workshops for the little ones.

The final touch will come on Sunday with the celebration of the ‘Carrera Zamora in form for equality’, a solidarity march whose proceeds will go entirely to the Aspace Zamora Association. With everything ready, sports fans just have to put on their shoes, catch their breath and enjoy a unique event.

Zamora will become those two days in the Spanish capital of women’s sports. The central Plaza de la Marina will host the 18th edition of the Women’s Universe Tour, a tour promoted by Iberdrola within the framework of the Women’s Universe program, endorsed by the Higher Sports Council and the Young Sports Foundation, through different provincial capitals with the aim of promote the development of women’s sports as a fundamental pillar in the recognition of the role of women in society and spread the successes achieved by our athletes.

The promotion of sports practiced by women has become a key lever for Iberdrola and the promotion of real equality between men and women, one of its essential values. In 2016, Iberdrola became the first company to make a firm and global commitment to equality and the empowerment of women through sport. Currently, the company supports 32 federations: gymnastics, triathlon, rugby, canoeing, badminton, soccer, handball, volleyball, hockey, table tennis, athletics, karate, boxing, surfing, ice sports, fencing, underwater activities, bowling, winter sports, weightlifting, judo, Olympic wrestling, mountain and climbing, swimming, skating, pelota, rowing, squash, taekwondo, tennis, archery and sailing. Likewise, it names 32 leagues, all of them of the highest category, and another 100 competitions with naming right.

Reducing the gender gap in sport is a commitment to women’s equality through excellence and translates into an important benchmark for girls, from their practice of physical activity and sports at all levels of the educational system, to point out to them that the path to federated and high-performance sports is also possible for them.
