Little more than a month since the approval by the Local Government Board of the project for the execution of the works of the new municipal pavilion of Puente Castro and the machines are already working in the area. A sports center desired by the neighbors and that finally sees steps forward, such as the one given on May 13 with the approval of the project by the León City Council.
A demand from the neighbors that has been promoted by the Union of the Leonese People in the Consistory of the capital and that will have a constructed area of more than 3,600 square meters.
The pavilion will have two floors and four prismatic volumes of different sizes and heights that will accommodate various uses and utilities.

The new sports center will have a multi-sports court (49 x 26.5 m), operating as a regulation futsal, handball, basketball or badminton field, a grandstand with 670 seated seats and 18 adapted for wheelchair users and a gymnastics and warm-up (22 x 12 m and a height of 9 meters).
In addition, there will be administrative offices, a versatile space for meetings, warehouses, lockers, toilets, changing rooms and a first-aid area.
Green area
In front of the south façade of the building, a green area will be set up and space will be reserved for future outdoor sports facilities.
Another work approved for Puente Castro has been the construction of a water survey, in the Plaza de Tomás Mallo, for a total amount of 23,250 euros.
