Women’s Euro: “Make us dream, continue to inspire us”, launches the Minister of Sports at Les Bleues

It is a week full of meetings for the Bleues of Corinne Deacon. In Clairefontaine, where they are preparing for the Euro (from July 6 to 31) in England, they met this week the humorist Ahmed Sylla or Tatiana Brillant, negotiator within the RAID for 13 years, who came to share her experience with them.

This Thursday, on the eve of their second preparation match, against Vietnam, in Orléans (9:10 p.m., W9), the Tricolores received in the Château Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, the new Minister of Sports, the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

A jersey flocked with his name

Upon her arrival, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra was welcomed by Corinne Deacon who said she was “delighted” with this meeting. Then, the minister greeted captain Wendie Renard, preserved for this Thursday’s match after feeling pain in her thigh.

“Thank you very much for having welcomed me here in your little intimacy”, she launched to him. She then shook hands with each of the 23 players. Then she received a flocked jersey in her name and bearing the number 24, “the little complementary joker”, she slipped smiling.

Noël Le Graët, president of the Federation, highlighted the results of the Tricolores and the “14 games without defeat”. Facing the players and before having lunch with the group, she spoke. “I have a crazy admiration for the collective that you form under the leadership, honestly quite impressive, of Corinne Deacon. You are obviously on a dynamic that is quite formidable. »

“You are an incredible collective”

“But beyond that, she continued, I think you represent a locomotive for all of women’s sport and I’m sure you’ll be on the bill on July 31 (Editor’s note: day of the final at Wembley). The president said it, you have ambition but above all you have all the legitimacy of your ambition. So make us dream, continue to inspire us. You are an incredible collective. And the 23 you train, I’m sure you’ll go on to success. »

The French will join England on July 5. Their first meeting is scheduled for Sunday July 10 against Italy (9 p.m.). They will then face Belgium (July 14) and Iceland (July 18) in the first round.
