Wimbledon breaks one of its traditions

Wimbledon has broken one of its traditions and will allow tennis players to train on the center court and on court 1the second in importance of the tournament, to improve the grip of the track.

Last year, the central court was more slippery than the rest and there were two serious injurieswith Adrian Mannarino and Serena Williams having to withdraw from their matches.

To alleviate this, Wimbledon will allow tennis players to train on these courtsuntil now reserved only for the best matches, in the week leading up to the tournament.

Tradition marked that the center court was inaugurated the weekend before the tournament with a girls’ doubles matchin which the players were chosen by lottery among the members of the All England Club.

Now, some tennis players will have the opportunity to try the grass of the central in the week prior to the tournament, combining it with the training sessions that take place on the Aorangi terrace.

Two of the tennis players who could drop down the center court will be Rafa Nadal and Carlos Alcarazwho land this Monday in London with the intention of preparing for Wimbledon, for which they will train these seven days and play the Hurlingham exhibition.
