Wide participation in the XXV Memorial Samuel Ferrer of Badminton

During Saturday, June 11, 2022, at the Samuel Ferrer Municipal Pavilion in Cuenca, it was held, after the year 2020 without being able to celebrate due to the pandemic situation and the year 2021 a little decaffeinated for being held outside its natural habitat, in June, the Samuel Ferrer Badminton Memorial, in its twenty-fifth edition.

The XXV Memorial Samuel Ferrer of Badminton, has been held in the individual modality, both male and female, and in the categories Sub11 (mini badminton), Sub13, Sub15, as well as Absolute non-federated and Absolute federated, starting at 9:00 a.m. , with more than 10 hours of development of the tournament, until 7:30 p.m., with a total of 193 matches being played, 177 badminton and 16 mini-badminton.

To highlight the participation of the different players, which on this occasion has been the largest in the entire history of the Samuel Ferrer Memorial, with a total of 111 registrations, which, after some last-minute drop-outs, had 106 real participants, who came from Toledo, Guadalajara, Albacete, Ciudad Real, Madrid, Valencia, Alicante, of course also from Cuenca capital and towns in the province such as Cañete, El Provencio or Valera de Abajo.

From the Albatros Badminton Sports Club, it only remains to thank the different entities that, during these difficult times, have not stopped supporting the practice of badminton in Cuenca, such as the Globalcaja Cuenca Foundation, the Cuenca City Council, the Cuenca Provincial Council and the Board of Communities of Castilla-La Mancha, through its Sports Service in Cuenca, in addition to other entities and companies that are always there when needed, such as the Barrio de Casablanca Neighborhood Association, Cervezas Tormo and the University of Castilla-La Mancha.

Finally, thank all the participants for their contribution of non-perishable food as a registration “fee”, which was delivered to the Food Bank of Cuenca, because any little help for those most in need is a lot; In addition, the trophies given to the winners have been acquired in the ASPADEC Association, with which the emotional and supportive end of this XXV Samuel Ferrer Badminton Memorial has been complete.
