Kendrick Perkins told in the podcast of J.J. Redick how during the 2008-09 season, Rajon Rondo et Ray Allen had been pressured to settle their differences… in the ring. Or almost..
“The first incident for me was when Ray was doing everything to get Rondo traded (against Chris Paul). Rondo got wind of it, and things started to go wrong. This is where it started to have some friction. We made them box to fix it. They were so confused that we brought them the boxing gloves to the training room and they had to settle it like that by boxing because we didn’t want any more tension. I’m glad everyone got together today. Ray came to support Kevin (Garnett). Everyone talks to each other again. »
The story does not say who won… Allen and Rondo remained teammates for a few seasons before the shooter decided to join the enemy, Miami, in the summer of 2012. The Heat had then just eliminated Boston in 7 games in the Eastern Conference Finals.
