Waterville offers a facelift at Huntingville Park

WATERVILLE. The small hamlet of Huntingville will see its large park sport a new face over the next few months. The Municipality of Waterville will offer him a facelift of some $245,000.

The baseball field will see the addition of new bleachers, dugouts, lighting equipment and a brand new billboard. A little further on, the picnic area, very close to the Coaticook River, will be improved. Play modules for children, a walking path, a canteen and an accessible toilet block are also part of the project. “In short, we redo everything, except the lawn, and we start afresh laughs Ms. Dupuis. We want to give this space a facelift. We also want to use it to hold rallies. We are even considering the possibility of adding a soccer field if space allows after the work. »

The project received financial assistance of $145,500 from Canada Economic Development’s community revitalization program. The Minister of Agriculture and MP for Compton-Stanstead, Marie-Claude Bibeau, was also on site when the work kicked off on Thursday morning (June 30). She recalled the importance of gathering places as we emerge from the pandemic. “People are happy to see each other again. It is good for both physical and mental health, ”she recalls.

The transformation of Huntingville Park also received $35,000 from the Coaticook MRC, through its Community Vitality Fund.

Note that the work should be completed by the end of the year.
