Victor Wembanyama and Asvel, it’s already over!

In the NBA, we would speak of “player option”, and according to the team, Victor Wembanyama activated his exit clause to leave Asvel, which has just won the French championship after an epic final against Monaco.

Injured, the young interior did not participate in this conquest of the title, and one year from joining the NBA where all the franchises dream of him, he therefore decided to change his project. Even if Euroleague teams are thinking of him, all eyes are on Paris since Wembanyama would intend to get closer to his family before leaving across the Atlantic. Two solutions: Paris Basketball or Boulogne-Levallois. Two clubs where he could enjoy a lot of playing time, while continuing his training.

While waiting to know his choice, probably during the day, it is an affront for Tony Parker since the president of Asvel was determined to keep him: “We are awaiting his response and I hope it will be positive,” said TP. “We absolutely want to keep him. We want to build everything around him. Everything will be built around him next season, so hopefully he stays.”

At 18, Wembanyama was shooting 9.4 points and 5.1 rebounds in 18 minutes this season, and he is the big favorite to be chosen number 1 in the 2023 Draft.
