Akeem Vargas is moving from BG Göttingen to MLP Academics Heidelberg within the basketball Bundesliga. The 32-year-old American received a one-year contract from the Neckarstadt-based company, as the Heidelberger announced on Thursday. At his new club, Vargas is expected to take on a leadership role, especially on the defensive.
“Akeem is a tough competitor who has a lot of BBL experience. He’s not afraid of defensive challenges,” said new coach Joonas Iisalo. “In attack he is a player who can help the team a lot with his throw. In addition, his experience will certainly help our young team to be successful next season.”
