Almost a month and a half after the promotion phase, Units pel Bàsquet Gandia returns to the current showcase. The Gandian club confirms the renewal of the coach, Alejandro Mesa, who will continue to lead the team, whether he stays in the EBA League or if he finally gets a place in the LEB Plata.
And it is that the entity from Gandia is playing both sides. On the one hand, the board is planning the 2022-2023 season in case it plays in EBA but at the same time it has a plan B in case it can go out in LEB Plata. In fact, UpB Gandia has presented the relevant documentation to the Spanish Basketball Federation to be included in the two competitions, although, logically, the main option and everyone’s wish is to occupy a place in LEB Plata.
Units pel Bàsquet Gandia hopes that some of the clubs that did achieve sporting promotion in the final stages of last May will give up their place because they cannot face the demanding conditions imposed by the FEB, taking into account that in the entity from the capital of La Safor if they are prepared to face the challenge, both sportingly and economically.
The solution will be known on July 1 when the deadline for submitting applications to the FEB competitions expires, although UpB Gandia is moderately optimistic about the possibilities of competing in the LEB Plata.
Another important novelty in the Units pel Bàsquet Gandia for the next campaign focuses on the change of sponsor. The club does not want to comment on the matter nor does it want to go into the issue of proper names, but it does ensure that there will be new news in this regard.
