Tunisia excluded? Minister closes debate

Carthage Eagles supporters can breathe! Over the past few days, there have been many rumors circulating about tensions between the Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) and Tunisia’s Minister of Sports, Kamel Deguiche. In question in particular: the decision of the FTF to organize a play-off match for the maintenance between ES Metlaoui and ES Hammam-Sousse when it is not provided for by the regulations.

This showdown could have led to the dissolution of the FTF’s federal office, a decision perceived as government interference by FIFA, and therefore to a possible suspension of Tunisia a few months before the World Cup 2022 (November 21-December 18). In this context, Deguiche spoke on Tuesday to put an end to speculation.

«Everything that has been said in the foreign media is false. We are not going to dissolve the FTF office and Tunisia will participate in the Qatar 2022 World Cup“, decided the leader at the microphone of Mosaic FM. This is therefore a big weight off the shoulders of the Tunisians, who will face France, Denmark and Australia in Group D of the World Cup. Jalel Kadri’s men sign an interesting preparation, like their crowned at the Kirin Cup last week in Japan.
