Midfielder Tom Pietermaat is the longest serving player at Beerschot.

The 29-year-old Belgian played 168 matches, promoted with the club from 4th class to 1A and was still a basic player this season.

Beerschot has now announced that Pietermaat will no longer be admired in the club colors next season.

“In recent weeks, there have been several conversations with Pietermaat. It was made clear that Beerschot wanted to continue with him,” Beerschot writes.

“The club wanted him to respect his current contract (until June 2023, with an option until June 2024), but the midfielder himself decided otherwise. We regret his decision.”
