The Disciplinary Committee of the Dimayor Championship partially suspended the sanction against Giovanni Moreno, for the gestures made to the Millonarios fans on the penultimate day of the BetPlay League home runs. Thus, Atlético Nacional summoned the creation midfielder who was on the substitute bench in the first leg of the grand final against Deportes Tolima at the Atanasio Girardot stadium in Medellin.
At the beginning of the second half and when the game was tied 1-1the Ibagué team published a statement on their social networks in which they assured that they were playing “under protest” because they did not agree with the decision of the highest body of Colombian soccer.
“Deportes Tolima informs the public that is playing under protest for the irregular alienation of the Atlético Nacional player, Giovanni Moreno. Their inclusion is contrary to all championship regulations. We respect the decisions of the sports courts and we are sure of the forcefulness of our arguments, so we not only denounce but also ask for the sanctions and points that the regulation contemplates in our favor. Institutionality and legal certainty must prevail and we are going to recover it”, published the team in its official media.
Giovanni Moreno entered at minute 89 replacing Jefferson Duque. The attacking midfielder played added time, in which Atlético Nacional scored the third goal of the match.
What does the Dimayor resolution say?
“This Committee warns that in attention to the content of numeral 4 of article 42 of the CDU of the FCF, the player Giovanni Moreno will be subjected to a period of conditional status of six (6) months, during which the consequences referred to in numeral 5 of the aforementioned article may be applied, in the event that a new infraction of the same or similar nature occurs”, published by the Disciplinary Committee of the Championship in Article 3 of Resolution 036 in response to the request submitted by Atlético Nacional.
