They recognized people who have left their mark on basketball – El Sol del Bajío

CELAYA, Gto.- (OEM-Informex).- Javier Mandujano, Víctor Javier García, Lauro Pérez and Luis Martínez, were part of the list of special recognitions in the last international basketball event, given by those who thanked the organizers for having honored them with the recognition Arturo “Holy Hand” Guerrero.

Víctor Javier barajas, said: “I represented Celaya from elementary school to university, I played with the Bees of the University of Guanajuato, with reserves of Lechugueros de León, in those years everything was basketball for me. Each recognition is a very nice feeling, plus seeing so many children and young people who like this “burst sport”. I remember that I was always in the Celaya and state teams, here we were in a national team, we got to play a tournament where the seminar is, I was also president of the LIBACE league, at the time when we had the first team in the Mexican league here in Celaya”.

Javier “Javo” Mandujano, expressed: “Part of my career is that I played in the Linces del Tecnológico team, we were three times national champions, a championship in the first force national team in CDMX, and well here I played in the league with some teams like 21neros, Tigres, and others that were very strong and at that time we were champions. For me, this recognition is a pleasure that they take us into account, they make us remember the best times of us, it is a pride to have this recognition with me. I remember that teams from universities in the United States came to play against us, of course, they beat us, but it was hard for them.

Lauro Pérez said: “I feel very happy that they are recognizing us, the basketball authorities in Celaya are becoming aware of who and whom they should recognize, the truth is that they had never done so, we congratulate the organizers, but I also think It is the initiative of Andrés Barrientos because of those who have been at the forefront of basketball. Now I have dedicated myself to training the new generations, I have many students and I hope that events of this level continue to be brought because this motivates the other generations”.

Luis Martínez, from Irapuato commented: “Part of my career is that I won two national tournaments, one as a youth in 1963, both curiously with Arturo Guerrero, then in 1972, in Primera Fuerza in Nuevo León, already from 63 to 72, I had the fortune of always participating in the state selective representing Guanajuato in the different regional and national ones. For me, it is a great satisfaction that they recognize us, personally I never expected recognition, because for me the best recognition is the great friends who have given me the opportunity to have this sport, I am from Irapuato, but I was adopted in Celaya for basketball friends, and I think that is what basketball has given me, friends, both from Guanajuato and from other parts of the republic”.
