In football everything goesespecially when it comes to qualifying for a World Cup. And that premise was applied by the Australian goalkeeperAndrew Redmayne, to be not only a figure in stopping two penalties against Peru but who also played alive by disrupting the plans of the Inca goalkeeper Pedro Gallese.
Seconds after the execution of the first penalty, Realizing that directions to where Gallese was to dive during the penalty shootout were written on the Peru goalkeeper’s water bottle, Redmayne snuck to the side of the goal, grabbed the bottle and tossed it away..
And although the detail of the water bottle seems inconsequential, according to Peruvian media reports, it was key in the penalty shootout that ultimately ended up qualifying Australia for Qatar 2022.
The truth is, in addition to taking a clear advantage, Redmayne ended up being key with a dance under the three sticks that although it became a reason for ridicule and memes on social networks, it misled Peruvians from the 12 steps.
One of the most affected by this strategy was Luis Advíncula, author of the sixth and last penalty that Peru kicked and that sent it to the hands of the oceanic goalkeeper so that Australia could declare its ticket to the World Cup.
