the World Cup comes to Paris, a test for the French clan before the Olympics

The third stage of the Archery World Cup will take place in Paris from June 21 to 26. The opportunity for the French team to put into practice the advice of their new Korean coach, who arrived a few months ago to prepare the athletes for Paris 2024.

“The events that will take place until this last arrow of the final of the Olympic Games are going to be very important”, explains Lisa Barbelin, archer from France. Among these events, the third stage of the Archery World Cup which will take place in Paris from June 21 to 26. First at the Stade Charléty then within the grounds of the Château de Vincennes for the final stages.

It will also be an opportunity for the French team to see the results of the work put in place by Oh Seon-Tek, head coach of the French archers since February. “This new coach will give me a boost. I had the impression of stagnating for a few years,” says Jean-Charles Valladont.

A world famous trainer

If the French archery federation has set its sights on this 61-year-old Korean, it is undoubtedly for his fame in the world of archers: 5 medals with the Korean team in Sydney in 2000 and 4 in London in 2012.

“In order to meet the ambitions of medals for French archery, the choice was made to recruit a foreign coach with great experience to lead the French team,” said the FFTA in a press release. Among the points to work on: the technique, the physical, the mental and the management of the competition. “I’m not going to work on just one part, but on all four to get the best out of each archer and raise their level of performance,” says Oh Seon-Tek. A recruitment linked to a clear objective: to prepare the French team for the 2024 Olympic Games.
