LEISURE. In the past year, the Chaudière-Appalaches Regional Recreation and Sports Unit (URLS-CA) has financially supported, to the tune of $166,000, 84 projects promoting the practice of leisure activities in the region. About thirty of these projects are found in Beauce-Sartigan, Robert-Cliche, La Nouvelle-Beauce, Les Etchemins and Bellechasse.
In the fall of 2021, the URLS-CA unveiled the Support for Leisure and Sports Initiatives in order to consolidate all of its programs. In addition, the Board of Directors decided to increase the amounts paid to organizations by $80,000. This additional amount made it possible to inject more than $166,000 into the projects of organizations in Chaudière-Appalaches. “This new approach also allows us to have a much more precise vision of the projects and ideas emerging in our region. This makes it easier for us to make available the expertise and knowledge present within our team”, specifies the general manager of the URLS-CA, Dave Fortin.
New partnerships in 2022
In April, a first call for projects received nearly 200 applications from across the region. The URLS-CA, thanks to its new partners such as the Fondation Québec Philanthrope, the Table régionale d’économie sociale de Chaudière-Appalaches and Accès-Loisirs Québec, expects to respond positively to more than 60% of the requests received. A second call for projects will take place in the fall.
