Confirmed the four games that will play the FC Barcelona on American soil. The Catalans will face Inter Miami, Real Madrid, Juventus and the NY Red Bulls on a tour in the United States that will take place next July. It should be remembered that the Barça team’s last visit was three years ago, in the summer of 2019, when the team led by Ernesto Valverde played two friendlies against Napoli in Miami (Florida) and Ann Arbor (Michigan). Now, Barça returns to America and we review what this tour will be like:
First stop, Miami
The Catalans will debut on July 19 in Miami, where they will face each other in the Inter Miami early Tuesday to Wednesday (1:30 a.m. in Barcelona, July 20). Local time will be 7:30 p.m. and it will be played at the DRV PNK Stadium. A club where the former player David Beckham is integrated into the group that owns the Club, and also a former player Phil Neville is the coach. It also has players like Gonzalo Higuain and Kieran Gibbs.
A new Classic in the United States
The next confrontation will be the Clasico against Real Madrid: Catalans and Madridistas will face each other in Las Vegas on July 23 (time to be confirmed). The match will take place at Allegiant Stadium, and will be the second meeting between Barca and Real Madrid in United States. The first Clásico was played on July 30, 2017, in Miami at a Hard Rock Stadium, and ended with a 3-2 victory for Barça with goals from Messi, Rakitic and Piqué.
Juventus, the third rival
Subsequently, three days later, on July 26, the Barcelona fans will face the Juventus in Dallas (time to be confirmed). The Catalans will face off against Massimiliano Allegri’s team at the Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas. This match will be the fifth confrontation between the Catalans and the Turin players in the United States, the most recent being in 2017, at the MetLife stadium in New Jersey, with a 2-1 victory for the Catalans with a brace from Neymar Jr.
These matches against Real Madrid and Juventus are part of Soccer Champions Tour, organized by the sports and entertainment company AEG, in which the Mexican teams of Club América and Club Deportivo Guadalajara also participate.
New York to close the tour
Finally, the tour will close in New York, where Xavi Hernández’s men will play the last game on US soil against the NY Red Bulls July 30th. The meeting will take place at 1:00 a.m., Barcelona time, in the early hours of Saturday to Sunday, at 7:00 p.m. in New York. The game will be played at the Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey, with a capacity of 25,000 spectators. This will be the third meeting between the New Yorkers and the Catalans, after the 2006 and 2008 tours, with Xavi participating as a player in both.
Thus, Barça returns to USA, which is a regular destination for Barça’s first team in the last decade. Apart from the last visit in 2019, the team also traveled in 2011, 2015, 2017, and 2018, the year in which they made a joint tour with Barça Women.
