The touching tears of joy of MarJon Beauchamp, selected for the NBA Draft after an obstacle course

On the night of Thursday to Friday, the 30 NBA franchises carried out their traditional Draft to select the best young players in the country. One by one, the greatest hopes were therefore called upon to join a team.

Remained in the shadow of the stars of this draft, MarJon Beauchamp had to wait a long time before exulting. It was finally after two good hours of patience and in 24th position that his name was called, by the Bucks, champion in 2021.

A prestigious base for a very affected player. Moved to tears and unable to come to his senses for long seconds, he finally gave his feelings to ABC’s microphone. Raising his reddened eyes to the sky, his voice still trembling, he confided: “How do I feel ? I’m just happy. God has never abandoned me. After everything I had to endure, the moments of doubt, the moments when no one believed in me, it’s just special…

A touching emotion that aroused an intense wave of sympathy on social networks, all observers being aware of where this 21-year-old player was coming from. After a stint in the very small college of Yakima and unable to find another base, he had indeed had to resolve to pass through the G-League, a sort of necessarily prestigious second division of the NBA, to hope to clear a place in the sun. A tortuous path that young basketball players often try to avoid, fearing to plunge into media anonymity and therefore to remain stuck there longer than expected.

Sailing in full doubt after this painful choice, he had even thought of quitting basketball less than two years ago. Finally, his warrior temperament and his defensive prowess in the G-League allowed him to catch the eye of quite a few NBA franchises, aware that he could be one of the steals (good surprises) of this draft.

It was ultimately the Bucks who got hold of this intriguing player who will therefore play alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo, one of the League’s superstars. “I look forward. Playing with one of the greatest players in history and in a great team is going to be huge for me. I’m going to be one of them, that’s my plan: learn and keep improving.” he promised, still as moved, but his gaze already focused on the future.
