The students of the ‘Marie Curie’ third at the national badminton – Sport

by Ermanno Pasolini

Badminton is a discipline that represents an exhilarating combination of balance and reactivity. And at the end of May (from 23 to 26) the National Finals of the student sports championships of this particular discipline were held in Folgaria-Rovereto in the province of Trento. The ‘Marie Curie’ Institute of Savignano sul Rubicone was represented by the Allieve team, already winner of the regional phase held in Cesenatico. There were 19 regional delegations who, as usual in such events, met with smash and drop shots with great spectacle and fun. Speed, power, agility and fatigue are the fundamental ingredients of this sport, an Olympic specialty since 1992, known by many as the ‘badminton game’.

After two years of inactivity, being able to restart with physical education lessons and the Scholastic Sports Group gave our students impetus and new motivation. The female team, pupils category, composed of Maria Strada, Caterina Bergamaschi, Vittoria Campedelli and Alice Rossi, followed by the Physical Education teacher Tina Galassi, performed very well in this event obtaining a prestigious third place. In front of them the representative of Piedmont (2nd classified) and the autonomous province of Bolzano which was the winner. Unfortunately in Romagna there are no companies or at least associations for this discipline. The work is carried out only by teachers who, with commitment and updates, try to increase or rather arouse in young people a certain interest in this discipline.
