The School Sports Games of Basic Education are inaugurated in Torreón

Governor Miguel Ángel Riquelme Solís inaugurated the School Sports Games of Basic Education, in its state stage, in the Laguna Region.

In his speech, he commented that as State President he is very pleased to return to sports, educational and cultural activities.

“It was two years without this type of event, but today it is a great satisfaction to see them here. More than 1,500 athletes will be in Torreón and I want to give a round of applause to the parents of the children for all the interest, for all the effort they show, ”she said.

He was sure that this will be a great and unforgettable competition for everyone, and he invited them to visit the Torreón Cable Car for free, as it is one of the greatest attractions of this region.

“As a society, as a government, seeing children and youth in competition is of great pride. Congratulations to all and all”, highlighted Governor Miguel Riquelme.

For his part, Román Cepeda González, Mayor of Torreón, thanked being in this city at such an important event, he said.

“Today, more than 1,500 athletes and 180 coaches join us in an event that has to do with family, with competitiveness. I just want to tell you: Welcome to Torreón, I wish you the best”.

Francisco Saracho Navarro, State Secretary of Education, highlighted the presence of students, teachers, coaches and parents who made the effort to be in the Pearl of La Laguna.

“The last edition of the School Games was two years ago. When the pandemic started we put everything on pause and we didn’t have the opportunity to do them.

Today, the children and young people return to the classrooms and have resumed the activities that are part of their integral development, I thank the coaches for integrating the participating teams, so that they live this experience”.

Athletics, chess, basketball, badminton, baseball, soccer, hadball, taekwondo and volleyball are some of the disciplines that will be participating in seven different venues, he explained.

“Enjoy these competitions, which are coexistence and promote development,” he said.

THE BEST OF US

“We prepare to compete and give our best”, was what the boy Osvaldo Eliud Martínez Emilio shared on behalf of all the athletes.

Those in charge of carrying out the Honors to the Flag were students of the Technological Institute of La Laguna.

Alina Garza Herrera, General Director of the State Sports Institute of Coahuila (INEDEC); Antonio Gutiérrez Jardón, federal deputy, and Jorge Alberto Salcido, Undersecretary of Basic Education, among other state and municipal officials, athletes and parents.
