Yesterday, the Oiz team presented its candidacy for the Biscay tournament for handball teams after its resounding victory over Ganekogorta at the fronton in the Matiena neighborhood of Abadiño. He won in all three modalities with impressive results and will play the semifinals in Arrigorriaga on Sunday.

Within the Cuatro y Medio, Peio Etxeberria was very solid and concentrated and left Elezkano II with eight goals. The Navarrese striker did a lot of damage with the serve and the following pitch throughout the contest that left Zaratamo’s striker unable to respond. He immediately opened an important gap in the light that allowed him to grow, while the Biscayan had problems opening gaps and was not at all fine with his volley. In half an hour and 138 balls he closed the clash.

In pairs, Ezkurdia and Rezusta had to work harder to overcome Irribarria and Zabaleta, but they were much more compensated and put the match on track from its halfway point. Until then, the clash had rhythm and good actions by the four protagonists.

But in the second part, the Colorados maintained their performance, while Arama’s and Etxarren’s went down. In this way, the Navarrese and Bergara opened an important gap that gave them the necessary peace of mind to close the game after 492 balls and about an hour of play.

This second triumph ensured the victory of the Oiz team, which allowed Elordi to play his heads-up match against Zabala without further pressure. The one from Mallabia did things well from the beginning. He made his initial play profitable, brought the ball close to the wall and prevented the player from La Rioja from exploiting his greatest punch. When he did it was too late.
