The Judo City of Barbastro returned with great force

On Sunday it was celebrated again Children’s Judo Tournament City of Barbastro, organized by the Binéfar Judo Club. In this edition, the 19th, participated just over 250 young judokas.

It was an activity participatory, in a format from which more than 100 medalists from all categories in the Spanish Championships have emerged from all the editions held. Boys and girls from practically all of Alto Aragón, aged between 4 and 12, gave their best.

More than 30 boys and girls from the clubs that belong to the Alto Aragón Judo Association exercised a magnificent work of arbitration, table officials and assembly. Without your selfless participation it would be impossible to organize this type of event.

In the awards Montse Buil, director of CEIP La Merced, María Cortés, head of studies at CEIP Pedro l, as well as councilors Blanca Galindo and Pilar Abab participated, accompanying the mayor of Barbastro, Fernando Torres.

From the Binefarense club they wanted thank Bodegas Aldahara, Jamones y Embutidos Julián Mairal and a secret patron for your generous contribution.

This competition is part of the circuit of competitions that are held throughout the province, bringing grassroots judo events with great participation to small towns in Alto Aragonese. The next appointment will be in Binéfar in two weekends.

On the other hand, as briefly reported this Tuesday, Moussa Macalou from Barbastro and Sergio García from Bilbaoboth from the literary club, approached the highest level international competition participating in the European Open in Madrid. More than four hundred athletes from forty countries met in the capital of Spain. At least twenty participations in similar events are necessary to suit European, World and Olympic competitors. Moussa lost in the first round against the Italian judoka Alessandro Magnani, older and more experienced on the international circuit, even so Moussa dominated the fight until reaching the Golden Score (sudden death) in which he was defeated with a somewhat dubious score. Sergio also suffered the defeat against the French athlete Pape Doudou Ndiaye, due to a tactical error.

This start of both in the absolute category does justice to the capacity they show when training, but we already know that training is learned by training and competition is learned by competing. In the years to come we will see the evolution of the two judoka scholarship holders at the Madrid High Performance Center.

And the head of the club, Antonio Clager, did not hesitate to state that “the starting gun for Paris 2024 has already been heard. If we get enough sponsorship, these two athletes belonging to the club They could bring us closer to the Olympic dream.”
