The Girona and Bàsquet Girona matches, by Movistar and Dazn

Girona will have a lot of anticipation from the 2022-23 season with the promotions of Girona in the First Division and Bàsquet Girona in the ACB. It is expected that this summer the season tickets will increase to see the two teams from the city play live in Montilivi and Fontajau, but so will those from the pay-TV platforms to be able to follow them from a distance.

Starting with the Santander League, Movistar Plus + will continue to offer all matches in the 2022-23 season. However, this time the television network will not have all the broadcast rights and will be shared with Dazn, a streaming service that belongs to Perform Group and is dedicated exclusively to sports. As a result, the distribution of rights will involve some changes to be able to watch the matches from August 12 when the League begins because Movistar subscribers will have to create a free account at Dazn if they want to watch the matches with the app using other devices. This is how the telecommunications company has begun to communicate this to its customers, although those who have currently contracted the entire football package with MovistarPlus + will not have to make any changes to their rate. Just sign up for Dazn.

When the new school year begins, subscribers who wish to watch football on their devices using Movistar Plus + will have a new channel, Dazn LaLiga, in which the matches on which the sports platform has rights will be broadcast. The rest will continue to be broadcast on the various Movistar Plus + channels as before.

That is, Movistar + subscribers will be able to follow all football matches even if they are offered by Dazn with a single difference if they are viewed through other devices. In this case, the matches broadcast by Dazn will not be found in the Movistar Plus + app, but users will have to create their own account in the Dazn app for free. This will not be the same for Dazn’s exclusive subscribers, who will only be able to access the matches offered by the sports platform and not those owned by Movistar.

Telefónica and Dazn were awarded the audiovisual rights of the Santander League for the 2022-23 season last December with an agreement for the next five years for an amount of 4,950 million euros. As established, each company will broadcast five matches of each day, except in three of these when all matches are played only by Movistar. In addition, Gol will broadcast an open match in the First Division but there will be no open match in the Second Division. It is not yet known where the second highest category of state football will be followed because it has not been awarded.

The other company that has been put in the middle is Orange, which has reached an agreement with Dazn so that its customers can benefit from the Dazn LaLiga package – those made for Movistar Plus +, no.

On the other hand, the ACB can be followed by Movistar. The company has the exclusive rights to broadcast the Endesa League until the 2022-23 season and, therefore, the format will continue as before.

To be able to watch the Ensesa League on Movistar, customers will have to activate the Movistar Deportes package at their miMovistar rate for a cost of 18 euros per month. In the case of matches broadcast on the #Vamos channel, you don’t have to activate anything because everyone with Movistar can see it.
