The berets are already the second tennis player to be forced out of the third Grand Slam of the season – the Wimbledon Championship – because of Covid-19. The tournament will also open for 2017 finalist Marian Cilič from Croatia.
The “lucky loser” Elias Imers from Sweden will take the place of the berets in the first round.
In the finals of the 2021 Wimbledon Championship, Beretini gave way to Serb Novak Djokovic with 7-6 (7: 4), 4-6, 4-6, 3-6.
