Double specialist Tim Pütz just missed his fourth home win on the ATP tour.
The Davis Cup player from Frankfurt/Main lost the final of the lawn tournament in Halle/Westphalia alongside his partner Michael Venus (New Zealand) in three sets. The duo missed two match points in the tiebreak of the third set in a 4:6, 7:6 (7:5), 12:14 against the top seeded Marcel Granollers/Horacio Zeballos (Spain/Argentina).
Pütz (34) triumphed in Stuttgart in 2018 (with Philipp Petzschner), in Munich in 2019 (with Frederik Nielsen) and in Hamburg in 2021 (with Venus). A total of $69,930 in prize money consoles him and Venus about the defeat in the final.
